Orissa Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) will conduct Written exam for recruitment of posts of Sub-Inspector (Finger Print) in the state crime record bureau under the D.G. & I.G. of Police (Home Department). Exam Syllabus : Exam Syllabus for SI (Fingerprint) written test is as follows :
Paper — I : General English (50 marks)
The questions of this paper Will be of descriptive type and to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose and to express his ideas clearly and correctly in English. The pattern of questions will broadly include the following with graduation standard.
(i) Comprehension of a given passage
(ii) Précis writing
(iii) Usage and vocabulary
(iv) Short essay writing
(v) Questions to test the Knowledge of grammar
Paper – II : Odia Language (50 marks)
The questions of this paper will be of descriptive type and will broadly include the following.
(i) Comprehension of a given passage
(ii) Letter/Application/Report writing,
(iii) Usage and vocabulary
(iv) Short essay writing
(v) Translation from English to Odia
Paper – III : General Studies (200 marks)
The questions in this paper will be of objective type (Multiple Choice) to be answered in OMR answer sheet.The nature and standard of questions will be such that a well-educated person should be able to answer them without having specialized study of the concerned subjects. The questions shall test general awareness of the candidates on a variety of subjects covering various fields of knowledge as expected from a graduate with Science background. The questions shall be in English.
The paper on General Studies will include questions covering different fields of knowledge, generally expected from a Science Graduate.
