1. On Tuesday evening Bharatiya Janata Party announced a 21-member poll committee to look after the 7thFebruary Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay will head the 21-member committee.
2. Well Known Tamil Writer Perumal Murugan, the author of controversial novel “Madhorubhagan” ( One Half Woman in English) has decided to give up writing after the threat from some Hindutva groups. He posted on Facebook as “Perumal Murugan, the writer is dead. He is not God. So he is not going to resurrect. He also has no faith in rebirth. An ordinary teacher, he will live as P. Murugan,”
3. On Tuesday Union Commerce and Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with Bangladesh counterpart Tofil Ahmed and Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the first border haat at South Tripura’s Srinagar.

7. On 13th January, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off India’s first compressed natural gas (CNG) powered passenger train on Rewari-Rohtak section of the Northern Railway. The CNG powered train has capability to run on both diesel and CNG.
8. BJP Government removed Chief of top Defence Research and Development Organization Avinash Chander on Tuesday. Mr. Chander had retired on 30 November, 2014 and was given a contract of 18 months till May 31 next year. But without giving any reason he was removed 15 months before.
9. Hara Patnaik the legendary Odia director and actor died on 13th January, 2015 in Bhubaneswar, Orissa.

2. On 13th January, Google the largest search engine launched Flight Search Tool in India. Through this Flight Search Tool you can search for flights, compare between the different flights and can book the flights on your tablet, desktop or on mobile.
3. Australia launched a new online pilot programme on 12th January, for Indian tourism visitors and Indian business to apply online for travel to Australia.
4. Samsung to launch today its first Tizen OS-powered Z1 phone (SM-Z130H).

1. Today NASA reported that on 26 January, an Asteroid will safely pass to Moon about three times the distance of the Earth.
International News
1. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Bill and Milinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) agreed to partner with Indian Government for Swachh Bharat Mission.
2. On 12th January, Madagascar Prime Minister Kolo Roger and 30 ministers and one Secretary of State of his government resigned. They were appointed in April 2014.
3. On 13th January, US State Department designated Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Maulana Fazlullah as a global terrorist.
4. Today US president Barack Obama named two Indian-Americans for the key post of chairman. Jonodev Osceola Chaudhari named to the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and Deven J. Parekh named to the member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
5. Today Pope Francis announced in front of 5 lakh people, 17th Century’s Joseph Vaz as the first saint of Sri Lanka. Joseph Vaz was born in Goa, India and in 1687 went to Sri Lanka.
6. Former owner of Wolverhampton Wanderers known as ‘Union Jack’ for his philanthropy towards Britain, passed away at the age of 91.
