Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) will conduct a written exam for recruitment for vacant post in Odisha Information Service (OIS) (Junior Branch). Exam of OIS (Jr. Branch) will be held on 10th & 11th of January, 2015.
Examination Date : 10 & 11/01/2015
Pursuant to this Commission’s Advertisement No.1 131/OSSC dtd.04.05.2013 the written examination for the post of Odisha Information Service (Junior Branch) will be conducted on 10.01.2015 (Saturday) in one sitting from 2 P.M. to 4.30 P.M. and on 11.01.2015 (Sunday) in two sittings from 9.00 A.M. to 11.30 A.M. and 12 Noon to 2.30 P.M. in Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Badagada, Bhubaneswar.
Admit Card : The Commission shall upload the Admission letter for the convenience of the admitted candidates on its Website. “www.odishassc.in”. The candidate has to go to the website of the Commission click on the button ‘candidates login’ and then provide ‘user Id’ and ‘password’ upon which the status of the application will be displayed on the screen. The candidates who have been admitted into the examination can download the admission letter from 02.01.2015 onwards.
►► There will be a written examination followed by viva-voce test.

► The time duration for all three papers will be 02:30 hours (150 minutes).
Syllabus :
(i) Odia : The questions wilt be of Graduation standard along with drafting of News in Odia.
(ii) General English : The questions will be of Graduation standard and shall consist of –
(a) Essay writing- 30 marks
(b) Letter writing- 15 marks
(c) Translation from Odia to English- 15 marks
(d) Retranslation from English to Odia- 15 marks
(e) Summary or Précis writing/comprehension- 15 marks
(f) Grammar- 10 marks
(a) Essay writing- 30 marks
(b) Letter writing- 15 marks
(c) Translation from Odia to English- 15 marks
(d) Retranslation from English to Odia- 15 marks
(e) Summary or Précis writing/comprehension- 15 marks
(f) Grammar- 10 marks
(iii) General Knowledge : The questions will be related to Indian History and Culture, major events in the World History, Geography with specific relation to Odisha, General Science with emphasis on everyday life, sports events. Basic computer skill, Human Rights, Environmental conservation, current affairs and General Knowledge on Odia literature. The question paper shall be in English and Odia. The candidate will have to appear the test in one of the language.
Viva-voce test — 40 marks
There shall be viva-voce test of 40 marks. Basing on the performance in written test suitable number of candidates shall be called to appear in the viva-voce test.
CAUTION : Mobile phone or any other communication device is not allowed into the premises of the OSSC examination centre. The candidates are advised not bring any such banned items to the examination centre venue, arrangements for safe keeping cannot be assured. A fly infringement of these instructions might entail debarment of the concerned candidate from the particular examination.
