1Kerala’s Idukki district will be India’s first hi-speed rural broadband network. Iddukki districts gram panchayat will get connected through National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN).
2. BJP Government today unblocked the 32 websites which removed ‘jehadi content’ and promised to co-operate with the government authorities. The websites were blocked in month of November 2014 after receiving complaint from Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) as their websites contain some Anti-India content.
3. The Sultanpur National Park of Gurgaon has been shut for a week after 47 birds died on Saturday 10thJanuary. The park management said the pesticides in crops may be the reason behind the bird’s deaths.
4. On occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 12th January observed as National Youth Day across the country.
5. Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) organized first Buddha Heritage Walk in Bihar. 500 pilgrims from 11 countries participated who walked through a 13 km long forest trail.
6. Goa Government took 674.61 crore loan from National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. Goa government took loan to complete and implement the 192 projects of the state.
7. Students of National Institute of Design (NID) has gifted city with 1st Floating Island on the banks of the Sabarmati River. The Floating Island is yet to start. The Floating Island will be used as entertainment stage and if successful will be helpful in flood prone areas for rescue operations.
8. Across the Sabarmati River on 10th January, a giant Ukrainian kite (almost 100m in length) with cloth long tail was seen in sky. The kite festival was organized by Vladimir Emelianov.
9. On 11th January, 2015 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 7th Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Vibrant Gujarat Summit was attended by US state secretary John Kerry and United Nations General Secretary Ban-ki Moon.
10. Today all the party candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in all seven wards were defeated in the cantonment board elections of Varanasi. The polling took place on Sunday 11th January.

1. Regional Championship of First Lego League (FLL) and Jr FLL will be held on January 17 and 18 at the Greenwood High International School. India STEM Foundation has organized the annual international robotics competition for children aged between 9 and 16.
2. Anirban Lahiri voted as the 2014 Players ‘Player of the Year’ for his success on the Asian Tour.
3. Korean Formula One Grand Prix removed from the 2015 calendar for contractual reasons.
4. On 30 January 2015 Ferrari will present their new Formula Car online.
5. On 11th January Stan Wawrinka won the Chennai Open title against Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia. He made history by winning the title thrice, earlier he won in 2011 and 2014.
6. On 11th January, Sunday Delhi’s Avinash Kumar won the Junior Snooker title at the National Billiards and Snooker Championship.
7. On 11th January, Switzerland Grand Slam champion Roger Federer won the Brisbane International Tennis title for the first time.

1. Google set to launch an updated version of Google Translate app for Android which will offer real time voice recognition in popular languages to text translation.
Science News
1. NASA’s Kepler space telescopes have found 1000 planets, which include eight new planets and 544 candidate planets.
International News
1. Paris had a largest rally on Sunday 11th January which included masses of people and created a French history. The rally was held to honour Paris terror attack victims, which killed 17 people.
2. On 11th January United States announced that it will host an International Anti-Terror Summit in Washington on 18th February, 2015. The main aim of the summit is to prevent violent extremism like what happened in Paris.
