Odisha SSC CPSE 2013 Exam Pattern Syllabus

Exam Pattern:- Written Exam will consist of 300 Marks for Sub-Inspector Of Police, Sergeant Of Police, Deputy Subedar & 500 Marks for Station Officer (Fire Service).

Note:-
- Candidates who apply for station officer only have to appear for Paper-IV in this exam.
- All other posts have to give only first three papers.
- There will be negative marking in this exam.
Exam Syllabus:-
Paper-I General English:- The aim of the paper is to test the candidate understand serious discursive prose and to express correctly in English. The pattern of questions will following with graduation standard.
(i) Comprehension of a given passage
(ii) Precis writing
(iii) Usage and vocabulary
(iv) Short essay writing
(v) Questions to test the Knowledge of grammar.

Paper-II Odia Language:- The questions shall be of graduation standard to test the following.

(iv) Short essay writing
(v) Translation from English to Odia.

Paper-III General Studies:-
A. The nature and standard of questions will be such that a well-educated person should be able to answer them without having specialized study of the concerned subjects. The questions shall test general awareness of the candidates of a variety of subjects covering various fields of knowledge as expected from any graduate. The question shall be in English and the candidates shall be required to answer in English. Questions will be asked from following topics:-
- General Science and recent scientific/technological developments
- Current events of National and international importance
- History of India from ancient times and Indian National Movement
- Indian and World Geography
- Indian polity and economy
- Mental ability test of reasoning
- Numerical ability test and Arithmetic of H.Sc. Standard
Paper-IV Technical Paper:- Questions will be set from Physics & Chemistry only. Questions will be objective type & 10+2 Standard.
